Slingshot artists, Phoenix Davidson and John McGrath, designed and painted two pianos for this annual public art installation, cited along Santa Barbara's popular downtown pedestrian distric.
Every October, painted pianos are placed along State Street to "spontaneously [reintroduce] music and art into people's everyday lives, as they going about their business." The installation is a much-loved and much-anticipated appearance.
Pianos on State is a collaborative project lead-organized by the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative, with support from the Downtown Santa Barbara organization, the Santa Barbara County Office of Arts and Culture, along with other organizing partners and sponsors.
