An image begins with an idea that is refined through effort and time. Sometimes an artist deliberates over an image by redrawing it over and again. Other times, one image evolves into another like variations on a theme.
Re/play brings together repeating images, variations, and recurrences that show us how these artists are working through the complexities of what they see or how they see the world. Each frame gives us something more, like snapshots of a view from different angles. Replayed as a sequence, the vision is that much more beautiful, diverse and complete.
